Design by prototype
The emergence of social software brought a tremendous change in the way we approach and develop technologies, even simple ones like web sites. With web services making their way into web sites, design became as much a question of usability and functionality as it is about art direction and graphics.
It took us a while to shift from a linear development model where concept then wireframes would guide design and then technology development, to a more agile approach where content architecture, graphic design and technology development are occurring almost simultaneously. This is where concepts like interation are actually taking shape.
The ‘clients’ section we’re upgrading today with a module which sources related projects from the back-end is a prototype derived from the same sketches that we presented a couple of days ago. Studio FEED are currently working on the design - behaviour and functionality – of this page and they can now focus on the interface in terms of information layout, typography and all other graphic design parameters.
Since the very beginning of this campaign 10 days ago, most of what we do relates to prototyping (hence the geeky look of this whole thing – a few more days still). From wireframes to design and back-end, our prototypes go live everyday while we are crystallizing contents and developing our storytelling.
As of today, we’ll mainly be focusing on writing the contents and documenting the dozens of projects we’ve done in the past, which will give life to the ‘Services’ and ‘Clients’ sections and to the ‘Projects’ section of course.
Just a bit more patience please…
